May has just begun, and we just surpassed the first gadget streak of 2022 a few days ago by Realme, Xiaomi and OnePlus. And as India’s leading brand of phone skins and screen guards, this definitely caught our attention!
From 27th April to 29th April, these three brands have released flagship smartphones, budget smartphones, tablets and TWS. Let’s first know briefly about these devices.
27th April
- Xiaomi 12 Pro 5G
This is one of the most awaited high-end flagships of Xiaomi this year because this phone was launched last year in China, where Xiaomi is headquartered. So far, Xiaomi 12 Pro has got great reviews because of its top specs like Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and 8K video recording, and a crucial point to be noted here is its pricing. It starts from ₹62,999 for the base variant of the 8 GB RAM + 256 GB ROM model. It’s comparatively less than the prices of its competitors like Apple and Samsung, which are providing a similar level of flagship experience for a much more expensive pricing, close to ₹1 lac. This phone is out on sale today from 12 PM onwards.
- Xiaomi Pad 5
More than Xiaomi 12 Pro 5G, people have waited for this a long, long time. We’re talking SEVEN YEARS long, just in case you were wondering. It’s been seven years since Mi launched any tablet in India. The best part is it’s not any other tablet; it’s an extremely spec packed tablet! It has some great specs like the Snapdragon 860 processor, 2.5k display with 120 Hz refresh rate, reversible charging support for Mi Smart Pen, and more. You can enjoy these specs for a starting price of ₹24,999 for the base variant of the 6 GB RAM + 128 GB ROM model. The pricing and the specs combined make it a great competition for Apple’s iPad (some have already started to call it an iPad Killer!). Xiaomi Pad 5 will be out on sale tomorrow from 12 PM onwards.
- Realme Narzo 50A Prime
In the budget range of realme, Narzo, this one is their latest addition under ₹15k, priced at ₹11,499 for the base variant of 4 GB RAM + 64 GB ROM model. Observing the price and the memory specs, we can take a guess you might not be super-wowed. But Realme Narzo 50A Prime has potential for its price point as it’s got some notable specs like 5000 mAh battery capacity, FHD+ display, 50 MP camera and expandable storage up to 1 TB. This phone is perfect for people looking for a phone on a very low-end budget. This phone has been out on sale since 29th April 2022.
28th April
- OnePlus 10R 5G
OnePlus 10R 5G is this year’s second mid-range flagship of 2022 after the OnePlus 9RT by OnePlus, starting from the price of ₹38,999 for the base variant of 8 GB RAM + 128 GB ROM model. This phone has decent specs for the price, MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max processor, 5000 mAh battery capacity, 80W SUPERVOOC Charger, and more. OnePlus 10R, costing-wise, is a pretty good deal for the specs they are providing. It also puts OnePlus in a neck-to-neck competition, with brands like Realme and iQOO selling similar ranged flagship phones. This phone will be out on sale on 4th May 2022.
- OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G
The last budget phone by OnePlus, the OnePlus Nord CE 2, created a lot of confusion among people because of its external build and not too many updates after OnePlus Nord CE 5G. This is a much cheaper alternative with pretty great specs (better specs, if you will) for the price starting from ₹19,999 for the base variant of 6 GB RAM + 128 GB ROM model. This phone is an absolute snatch for the price as it offers quite a few specs that you’ll generally find in mid-range flagships and non-flagships phones. Some of these specs are OxygenOS based on Android 12, 5000 mAh battery life, 120 Hz refresh rate, and more. Moreover, the standard OnePlus Nord CE feature, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, is also there in this device. OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite has great potential because of its pricing and specs. This phone has been out on sale since 30th April 2022.
- OnePlus Nord Buds
This TWS audio piece is the first in the OnePlus’ Nord collection, and even though it’s a budget pair of earbuds, it has got pretty good specs. Inbuilt with 12.4 mm dynamic drivers, AI Noise Cancellation, dual-mic on each bud, 7 hr + 30 hr battery life with charging case, Sound Master Equalizer and IP55 water-dust resistant, it is priced at ₹2,799 only. This TWS pair is a perfect choice if you are looking for noise cancellation and gigantic dynamic drivers within a budget range. OnePlus Nord buds will be out on sale on 10th May 2022.
29th April
- Realme GT Neo 3
This mid-range flagship by Realme is packed with MediaTek Dimensity 8100 5G processor, 120 Hz display, 50 MP AI camera with 4k recording support, and 80W-150W SuperDart Charge. This implies further that this phone has decent specs. This phone will be a great competitor to OnePlus’ latest mid-range flagship mentioned earlier, as both the phones have uncannily similar specs and pricing. The starting price of the base variant of the 8 GB RAM + 128 GB ROM model is ₹36,999. Realme GT Neo 3 will be out for sale on 04th May 2022.
- Realme Pad Mini
This tablet is within the budget range of 15k, which provides specs like a Unisoc T616 Processor, 8.7″ display, 6400 mAh display, 3.5 mm headphone jack and more. It’s priced at 10,999 for the base model of 3GB + 32 GB RAM WiFi variant. While this tablet is not the most favourable in terms of specs, it is decent for such a low price point. Realme Pad Mini will be out on sale on 2nd May 2022.
- Realme Buds Q2s
This pair of TWS buds fall under the budget range of TWS devices with some pretty good specs like 10 mm bass dynamic drivers, AI ENC Noise Cancellation, 30 hours of playback, and IPX4 water-sweat-dust resistance. You can avail all these specs only for ₹1,999. You can find Realme Q2s out for sale on 2nd May 2022.
Okay…but why is this an eye-catching streak?
All these devices are by top Android device competitors; Realme, Xiaomi and OnePlus. The flagships are similar in almost every context, which puts them in a highly competitive place as sales have begun. This 3-day-streak of similar types and specs of gadgets will set a benchmark for all these devices; you will know for a fact which is the most suitable and vice-versa device for you. Moreover, these brands have the expertise in making phones either in mid-range or budget. It will also play a partially-big but crucial role in their market share rise by the end of this year. The competition is immense given their positioning in the Indian smartphone and electronic gadgets industry.
